an autumn collection of faggots
twigs of tiny dead wood branches
saved from the hearth fire
resurrected during long nights
of crisp ice and derelict darkness
pulp:
hand carved miniature sculptures
grain text written
as the font of all knowledge
began to grow into a small family tree
complete with doll’s house
and kitten
bark:
and so spring stories
old wives’ tales
about the legends of their roots
and the scandalous biology of sap
in text hel-vetica
from mighty acorns …
splinters:
the rich tone patina of lies
with their smaller off-shoots
all took on
the hanging tree souvenir trade
hand carved from twigs
into small gibbets
with dangling buds of men
worm:
attic toys spun
into cobweb years
those oaken men
of england
all eaten into dust
